Granite counter gets stained easily by water, it is a sign that the sealer is getting weak. What can you do if a stubborn water stain appears that wonÂ’t go away with a simple rubdown?

If you find your beautiful granite marred by either one of these types of stains, donÂ’t worry. If the suspect spot recurs near a faucet or sink, make a habit of wiping the area frequently. I used a granite polish to seal and protect the area after, but to my surprise, the counter seal was very much intact and the natural shine returned with the removal of the limescale. These are for quick cleaning and bringing the luster of the surface up without leaving a residue that streaks.

I have some hard water stains on my counter tops and want to know the best way to remove them. If it soaks into the granite within a minute, you’ll need to reseal your granite countertops.

For regular cleaning, you can use a granite cleaner that is approved for granite countertops or a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts water will not damage the granite and is environmentally friendly, and economical. A poultice made of corn starch or baking soda mixed with water to form a paste may do the trick. The second type of water stain is caused by hard water (that is, water with a high mineral content) that sits on the counter, dries and leaves a deposit, often resulting in bothersome circles that build up around the faucets.

The end result may be worse than what you started with and will likely require a professional fix. Over time, the acid in the vinegar can damage the stone, but for one quick cleaning it should be fine.

What does granite transformations suggest for these areas and what do you suggest for daily cleaning?
